LOCATION
Oroquieta City is the capital of the province of
Misamis Occidental, nestled on the coast of
Iligan Bay.
THE LAND
It has lowland plains and wide coastal lowlands
on its eastern side and rolling to wide
highlands and mountains on its western side.
THE PEOPLE
Generally consists of young population the
majority of whom originated in Bohol. Cebuano is
the dominant langauge (97%).
COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY
Major local industrial establishments are
coconut-based. These include the Coco Gold
Manufacturing Industries, Inc., which
manufactures dessicated coconut for export, and
the SPDA-Bunotex, which converts coconut husk
into doormats. There are six bank branches in
the city.
